Ginger Apple Spice Cocktail

By MixThatDrink

The Ginger Apple Spice Cocktail is a delicious drink featuring spiced rum and ginger liqueur for the spice, with just enough Malibu coconut rum to take the edge off. You can’t really taste the coconut, but it adds something wonderful to the overall flavor.

I also used Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters in this one because it has a sort of roasted spicy quality with a touch of chocolate. It adds depth and a touch of spice, and you can add one dash, several dashes, or none at all, depending how you like it.

If you don’t have Aztec Chocolate Bitters, you can use another bitters, preferably one that’s a little bit sweet and spicy. Orange bitters will work fine, though it won’t have that roasted note.

This is one of those drinks where the spice seems to have a warming effect, which makes it nice for cool evenings. Of course, it’s really good anytime you’re in the mood for ginger, spice and apple.

It pairs well with soft and semi-soft cheeses, like brie or Stilton. It’s also good with a meal featuring halibut, mahi mahi or other mild fishes.

Try it with this Easy Grilled Mahi with Avocado and Corn Salsa from Laughing Spatula, which is lightly seasoned and has lovely sweetness from the corn. You may also enjoy this drink with teriyaki chicken – the ginger and spice in the drink is perfect with teriyaki.

The Honeydew-Ginger Martini uses Midori and Domaine De Canton Ginger Liqueur for the cocktail’s main flavors of honeydew and ginger. Lemon juice and Angostura bitters givethis drink recipe a little bit of spice.
