Gabbie’s Punch (Non-Alcoholic)

By MixThatDrink

Gabbie’s Punch is a simple recipe you can whip up anytime you’re entertaining without alcohol, or want to offer non-drinking guests something delicious to enjoy. The flavors here are citrus and spice, with just enough sweetness to bring it all together.

This recipe was developed by an Australian friend of mine and calls for Golden Circle Tropical Punch, which isn’t sold in the US to my knowledge. It’s basically orange, pineapple and passion fruit juices, so Kern’s Nectar in that flavor works as a substitute.

Like most punches, this is a great choice to serve at your own parties, or to bring along to other people’s – kind of like a BYOB for the non-drinkers. Since it’s a combination of tropical fruit flavors, citrus and ginger ale, most people love it.

It also goes well with a lot of foods. It complements salmon with tropical fruit salsa very nicely. Another option would be chicken teriyaki. And if you’re serving it with finger foods, try chicken satay.

One quick note about choosing your ginger ale: don’t go for a particularly spicy ale, like Vernor’s (which I love, but it’s too overwhelming for many cocktails). Pick something like Canada Dry or any other basic ginger ale at the grocery store. Or, you can even make your own ginger ale at home with fresh ginger, lemon juice, sugar and soda. There’s a little cooking involved, but it’s not any more difficult than making simple syrup.

Gabbie’s Punch Recipe

  • 1 part Golden Circle Tropical Punch or Kern’s Nectar in Orange Pineapple Passion fruit
  • 1 part ginger ale
  • 1 part lemonade
  • Strawberry halves and mint

Put some ice in a punch bowl. Put all the liquid ingredients into the bowl together, and give them a stir. You can put the strawberries and mint into the punch, or put them on the side as garnish for people to add to their glasses.
