Butterscotch Coffee Cocktail

By MixThatDrink

The Butterscotch Coffee Cocktail blends two liqueurs with a full serving of hot coffee. It’s a fairly lightweight drink that’s perfect for cool evenings or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

This is a sweet coffee drink, featuring butterscotch schnapps and Irish cream. I used DeKuyper Buttershots for the schnapps.

For the Irish cream, I like to use the Carolan’s brand because it has some wonderful caramel notes. Of course you can use whatever brands you prefer, or happen to have on hand.

If you’re having this drink late in the evening or as a nightcap, you might want to switch to decaf. Try Melitta Decaf or Dunkin’ Donuts Decaf for a caffeine free cup that has as much flavor as regular.

This drink is wonderful to have all on its own, as a dessert or a sweet snack. It’s light enough to work as a brunch drink, too, although some would feel it’s a lot of sugar to take first thing in the morning.

You could pair it with something like bacon and eggs, or pancakes buttered with no syrup – which tastes better than you’d imagine when paired with a sweet drink.

These Bacon and Corn Griddle Cakes from Recipe Girl might be just the thing to wash down with this coffee drink.

If you enjoy this cocktail, be sure to try the Caffeini Martini, with Kahlua, chocolate liqueur and butterscotch schnapps. Or the Spanish Coffee with Licor 43, or the simple Cafe D’Amour, with coffee and cognac.
