Pumpkin Pie Shot Recipe

By MixThatDrink

The Pumpkin Pie Shot tastes reasonably similar to a pumpkin pie. It blends Irish cream with amaretto and cinnamon schnapps, so you get something of the heavy sweetness and spice that the name implies.

This magical little shot is all alcohol, so you can just pour and stir – no need to shake. It’s sweet and delicious, and not meant for chugging because it’s got much too nice a flavor to be missed. (You can get my little Mason Jar shot glasses at Target.)

As for which brands to use, you can’t really get this one wrong. I’m a fan of Carolan’s for Irish cream, Disaronno for amaretto and Goldschläger for the cinnamon schnapps, but other brands will work just as well.

Be aware that a flavored Irish cream will change the profile completely. However, it may be delicious – I mean, Baileys Salted Caramel in this recipe? Oh, yeah.

But Baileys Chocolate Cherry? That would probably clash with the cinnamon schnapps, and would definitely take the whole taste of the drink in a very different direction.

This drink is a great way to get the flavor of pumpkin pie any time of the year without anything more complicated than and pour and a stir. That said, you may also want to check out the Pumpkin Pie Martini, which uses actual pumpkin puree.

This shot is best enjoyed on its own or as an after dinner dessert substitute drink. If you want to eat something along with it, try something simple, like a really nice piece of baguette or sourdough bread with butter, or a slice of angel food cake.

This drink has plenty of sweetness and flavor all on its own.
