The Mango Key Lime Margarita is blends the bright melon flavor of mango with the tartness of key lime and cointreau. The taste is a little bit richer than your traditional margarita, but it’s still got that light, fruity, refreshing feeling.
You can have a salt rim, sugar rim or no rim at all on this one, but I’m a fan of mixing chili pepper or paprika with salt – that touch of spice adds a wonderful contrast with the mango.
Recipe
- 2 ounces of tequila
- 1 ounce of Cointreau
- 1/4 mango, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- Juice of 1/2 key lime
- 1 cup crushed ice
- Key lime slice for garnish
Combine everything but the garnish in a blender and blend until slushy. Rim a glass with salt (and, optionally, chili pepper). Pour in the mixture and garnish with lime wheels.
