The Shark Bite drink gets its name from the way the three drops of grenadine look like blood in the greenish-blue water. This one always gets a laugh at parties, especially Halloween parties.

It’s also a great drink for summertime, especially if you’re lucky enough to be spending time at the ocean. Just download the Jaws theme and play it when you serve the drink.

The blend of orange, spices and citrus with a hint of berry is also quite tasty. This is an easy drink to enjoy, and a hard one to go wrong with.

The only tricky part is dropping the grenadine in. You have to make sure it lands on a chunk of ice, or it will fall to the bottom of the drink. I actually use a little dropper (like this one at Amazon) to put it in drop by drop.

You can also put grenadine into an old food coloring dropper, but I don’t find they work as well. These little droppers are handy – I use them for everything from putting ingredients in drop by drop to squirting drops of chocolate sauce on the inside of cocktail glasses.

A third option is to put some grenadine in a spoon and try to let it just a little bit at a time fall in. That’s a good option if you don’t have the droppers.

You can mix up a big batch in a pitcher of everything but the grenadine in your cocktail shaker. That way, you can easily serve this drink at a party.

The Shark Bite is a great hit at parties. Most people will love the fruity flavors, and everybody loves a drink that has special visual effects.

Just pour the ingredients from the pitcher into a glass filled with ice, and add the drops of grenadine after the fact. That gives your guests a little spectacle to enjoy along with the drink.

You may find crushed ice works better than cubes, but I found cubes held the grenadine better. And when I say “cubes”, I mean the little half-moons my refrigerator ice maker spits out.

And a quick note on the grenadine: make sure the one you’re using is thick and syrupy. The standard ones from grocery stores work well for this. Some of the hand-crafted ones, not so much.

This drink has a lot of fruity flavors, which makes it a little challenging to pair with foods. However, if you stick with orange flavors, you can’t go wrong.

This citrus-marinated carne asada should do the trick, with the orange juice and lime from the dish complementing the drink. Or you could go with this tamari-orange marinated grilled chicken with broccoli rice.
