Frightleberry Murzenquest cocktail recipe

By MixThatDrink

I love a cocktail with a memorable name, and the Frightleberry Murzenquest certainly fills that bill. Fortunately it also tastes good. It blends notes of orange, lime, cherry and vanilla with hints of spice.

It’s not a particularly sweet drink because it balances the flavors of sweet, sour and spicy very well. It’s also not a particularly strong drink, using one ounce of vodka and another ounce of liqueurs for its alcohol content.

Note that this drink features Galliano. I’m one of those people who doesn’t like the flavor of anise or black licorice. So I don’t like the taste of Galliano on its own.

But the other ingredients in this cocktail overwhelm those notes and make them blend in. Even if you don’t like Galliano normally, I would still recommend trying this cocktail.

Because this drink covers sweet, spicy and sour, it pairs very well with your traditional salty bar snacks, such as nuts or pretzels. It would also tastes great with a triple cream brie or a mild white hard cheese, like parmesan or asiago.

You can also make this drink big batch style, mixing it in pitchers before a party. That makes it easy to top off drinks as needed, or even let guests serve themselves.

If you want to enjoy this one with a meal, try something savory: grilled meat dishes, pasta with a spicy sauce like aglio e olio or mushrooms in butter, or a good beef stew. It also works nicely as a light dessert drink.
